Born on the 05th January 1937 in the village of Fatehpur Khurd.
Chanan was the youngest of 3 children, sister Naseeb Kaur and brother Shiv Ram and affectionately called Chani by his immediate and extended elders in the family.
To the best of knowledge, the birth would have taken place in the family home supported by women normally called (THIE aka midwife) who will have been experienced ladies from the village. At this time there were no medical facilities as we would know today or official registered and recorded birth certificates, so it is difficult to be absolutely certain of the birth date but this will be close enough.
